THE PUMPKIN PATCH
It is fall tradition to take the family out for a day of fun at The Pumpkin Patch in Caledonia, IL. With its rides, attractions and the new giant Corn Maze, Jean Coon, the owner of The Pumpkin Patch felt she not only had a story to tell but she felt she needed the mass marketing power of the internet to tell it.
Integrated Web Solutions began working with The Pumpkin Patch in July of 2002 with the goal of revamping the design and content of the web site and more importantly to help Jean understand the impact of the web on her business.
"The site, as it had existed had a very Halloween flair to it. But that only tells part of the story. The Pumpkin Patch is really a fall gathering place for families and from a design standpoint, this is something we wanted to communicate. The Pumpkin Patch opens and is busy from the moment they open in early September whereas Halloween is always an October thought," said John Schwarberg, IWS Creative Director.
"We knew the site was having an impact in general. Our original site was designed quickly to support the 2001 season and from the moment we launched, we had people commenting on it. The idea was, and is, to really showcase everything we do and have there - the food, the entertainment, the activities for the kids, the costume shop, the corn maze, etc. I've always envisioned The Pumpkin Patch as a family fun destination rather than simply a place to buy your Halloween pumpkin. Our web site can provide this broad presentation and IWS has been key to helping us use the medium appropriately to share this message." said Jean Coon.
Re-launched in September of 2002, The Pumpkin Patch received nearly 6,000 visitors to their web site during the August-October season of 2004.
